A tragic car crash in Lawrence County has left one child dead and two siblings, 17-year-old Harli Johnson and 20-year-old Cam Johnson, fighting for their lives in a Nashville hospital. The heartbreaking incident unfolded Sunday afternoon around 3:45 p.m. along Highway 43 in Leoma, near the intersection of Purcell Lane.
Tennille Tucker shared Please pray for Steve, his daughter Falon and the entire Yocom family. My heart aches for each of you. And please continue to pray for Bo’s mom Ashley and his other 2 siblings Harli and Camdyn. I don’t know any details but I hear they are fighting a battle and need prayer warriors standing in the gap for them.
According to emergency officials, the vehicle carrying the three siblings — all children of local nurse Ashley Hagan — veered across the double yellow line for unknown reasons and collided head-on with another car. The impact claimed the life of the youngest child at the scene.
Harli, a senior student and standout athlete at Lawrence County High School, and Cam, her older brother, were both airlifted in extremely critical condition to Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville.
The crash has shaken the Lawrence County community to its core.
Harli Johnson, a member of the Lawrence County High School Varsity Basketball Team, wore jersey #35 and played as a shooting guard. She helped lead her team to a solid 14-11 record this season and held a state rank of 98. Known for her determination, athleticism, and kind heart, Harli is deeply loved by classmates, teammates, and coaches.
While early reports incorrectly identified her as a football player, Harli is best known for her basketball accomplishments and her close bonds within the LCHS community.
Messages of prayer and strength have flooded social media since the news broke.
One Facebook user, Shultzy Strong, wrote:
“Please pray for one of Kade’s classmates and friend since middle school, Harli Johnson, her mom Ashley, her brother Cam and their family. Psalm 34:18 – The Lord is nigh unto them that are of a broken heart; and saveth such as be of a contrite spirit.”
From the LCHS Class of 2023:
“Please pray for one of our classmates, Harli Johnson and her family. We love you Harli. We are praying for you Harli, Cam, Ashley and Family.”
Friends, family, and neighbors are also urging donations to help with medical expenses through Ashley’s Venmo account: @Ashley-Hagan-0211.
Ashley Hagan, a registered nurse at Maury Regional Health, is enduring every parent’s nightmare — the loss of one child and the hospitalization of two others. The community has wrapped its arms around Ashley during this time, lifting her up with prayer and support.
Heartfelt messages continue to pour in:
Carrie Lincoln Rogers:
“These are her children. She lost her baby boy and her other children are in critical condition. Lord, please wrap your arms around Ashley and heal her 2 other children.”
Kendall Lovvorn:
“My heart is completely broken for Ashley Hagan and her sweet family right now. PLEASE pray for them hard. You have a praying army behind y’all and we love you.”
A candlelight vigil is scheduled for Tuesday at 7 p.m. at Lawrence County High School. Students, teachers, and local residents will gather to pray for Harli and Cam’s recovery and to remember the young child whose life was lost too soon.
